About the Book

The present volume is a collection of twenty-one research papers dedicated to felicitate Prof. Pradeep Kumar Behera in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Indian Archaeology. All twenty-one papers are arranged in chronological order and focused on different aspects of eastern India and adjoining regions in time and space, i.e. prehistoric, proto-historic and early historical archaeology, epigraphic studies, art, architecture, iconography, and ethnography.

It presents the results of systematic work carried out by different scholars in the eastern India and adjoining regions and throw light on recent scientific studies on art and archaeology. It deals with the techno-typological studies of different material remains collected from various explored and excavated archaeological sites, researches on archaeo-botanical remains, prehistoric museum collections, and literary and archaeological sources on the maritime history of Odisha. The volume also provides valuable insights on the art and architectural developments, i.e. temples, stupa and sculptural art. Besides, discussion on socio-cultural and religious aspects have also been found in relation to ethnographic studies on pottery and megaliths.

Moreover, the volume will be a useful source material for archaeologists, indologists and art historians

About the Author

Dr. Sakir Hussain (b. 1987) is a Lecturer in the Department of History, Ispat Autonomous College, Rourkela, Odisha. He has completed his Post-Graduation and Ph.D. from Sambalpur University and Post-Graduate Diploma in Archaeology (PGDA) from Institute of Archaeology, Archaeological Survey of India. He has also completed Diploma in Tourism Studies (DTS) from IGNOU. Dr. Hussain has one edited book, seven book chapters, and several research papers in UGC care listed journals of international and national repute in his credit. He has presented papers in different international and national seminars/conferences. His areas of interest are Ancient Indian History and Archaeology, Tourism, and Heritage Studies.

 

Dr. Subodha Mendaly (b. 1988) is working as the Academic Consultant (History) in Odisha State Open University, Sambalpur, Odisha. He has completed his M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. and Post-Graduate Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS from Sambalpur University. He has one edited book, five book chapters, and several research papers in UGC listed journals, international and national repute in his credit. He has presented papers in different international and national seminar/conference and workshop. His areas of interest are Ancient Indian History and Archaeology, Ethnographic and Tribal Studies.
